Providing a Christ-Centered, Classical Education

Welcome to Schaeffer Academy and thank you for your interest in the school!  Schaeffer Academy is an excellent choice for parents who want a traditional academic setting with a Christian worldview for their kindergartner through twelfth (K-12) grader.  With uniforms, orderly classrooms and a curriculum that balances challenging study with art, music, physical activity, Schaeffer Academy seeks to impart a lifelong love of learning to our students.

For Kindergartners, we offer a five day per week program.  Academic half-day kindergarten is the basis and emphasizes phonics, math, and handwriting, with additional instruction in science, music, Latin, PE and art.  We also offer the option of enrolling your kindergartner in a half-day enrichment program which includes supplemental academic activities, creative projects, field trips, and additional music and art activities.  Kindergarten options are the following:  5 days of half-day kindergarten or 5 days of full-day kindergarten.

Visitor Information & Tours:  There are Visitor Information Tours most Wednesdays that you can confirm on the calendar on our school website at Schaeffer Academy.  We would be happy to schedule another weekday and time if our regular visitor information tours does not work for you and your schedule. 

  • School Year (In-Session):  Mid-September to early May most Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. 
  • Summer Break:  Early June to Mid-August most Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.

Prospective Parent Information Meetings & Kindergarten Round-ups (Grades K-12):

  • Wednesday, October 2, 2024, 9:00-11:00 am
  • Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 9:00-11:00 am

These events are a great way to see the school in action and hear about classical Christian education first hand.  It also provides a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have.   In addition, it will give you insight into our model of education and provide an opportunity for you to experience our school dynamic and thoughtful community including visiting classrooms and meeting our faculty and staff.

If you do not have a kindergarten age child attending the K Round-up but have a child in grades K-12 you are interested in enrolling, the Parent Information Meeting portion of the event starts at 9:45 a.m. followed by a tour of the campus.

During the Prospective Parent Meeting & Kindergarten Round-up, our kindergarten teacher will teach a lesson to the potential Kindergartners and parents who attend.  Then, one of our specialist teachers (music, art, or Latin) will work with the students while Mr. Phillips, our Headmaster, and kindergarten teacher meet with the parents alone to tell you about Schaeffer Academy. You’ll be able to ask questions, meet K-1-2 teachers, tour the school and talk to administrators.

Registration:  Please consider attending a Prospective Parent Meeting & Kindergarten Round-up, Wednesday Visitor Information Tour, or making an appointment at another time to visit our school.  Reservations are not required but helpful.  You may email Registrar, Jill Wirth or call 507-286-1050 to let us know you plan to attend.

Important Application and Admission Deadlines:

Parents can apply for the current school year or anytime up to two years in advance of the year to enter.  

Parents who wish to apply will need to start their application process by November 15 for an upcoming school year.  New student application process started after this date may not be completed in time to be considered during the Regular Admissions decision. The "application and admissions process" must be completed by January 15 each year.  Students who complete the entire application and admission process after January 15 may still be considered for acceptance during the Rolling Admission Period - if there are any open spots remaining in their grade.  For more information see:

Tuition and Fees

  • Application Fee:  $175 per student (maximum $350 per family) per year
  • 2024-25 Tuition Cost:  K-12 is $10,296 and Half-day Kindergarten is $5564.  Schaeffer Academy will announce Tuition Rates for the upcoming school year the first school day in January

We have an excellent Tuition Assistance Program that is very helpful to parents to send one or more children to Schaeffer Academy.  Ten to fifteen percent (10-15%) of your adjusted gross income and any non-taxable income is a very general guideline of what parents would be expected to pay for ALL children attending.  If tuition for your family will cost more that 10-15% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) and any non-taxable income you should consider applying for tuition assistance.  Parents are eligible to apply through our FACTS Grant & Aid Program when they submit an enrollment application and apply in the year to enter.
